Five years ago, I was living in Palo Alto, California, teaching yoga full time, mysteriously in love with a Christian, eating a raw vegan diet, and 24 years old. Today, I am a homeowner in Austin, teaching school full-time and a little yoga on the side, eating a lacto-ovo-pesca-tarian diet, not in love with any Christians, and 29! I'm so grateful for the continuity -- dear, old friends who remain close even if geographically far away, and YOGA, without which I would surely be dead, or clinically insane at the very least. As I sit here in the Hyatt hotel in the suburbs of Baltimore and DC, mulling over the notion of leaving the country, leaving Austin, leaving my beautiful friends and family and home, I feel calm and open to whatever develops. Guatemala? Brazil? Staying in TX? Maybe it's the food coma from the delicious Indian food I had for lunch, but I'd like to think that I am just basking in the present moment. Why stress? Life is short. Namaste...
